Census 2000 Demographic Profiles (DP2, 3 & 4)
The Census Bureau has released the first results of the long form sample questionnaire from Census 2000. The population data provided includes items such as: educational attainment, ancestry, migration, place of birth, language spoken, income, poverty, employment status, occupation, and commuting. Housing data includes: units in structure, year structure built, house heating fuel, value, mortgage costs, and rent paid. Geographically, data is being released for every county, city, town, village, and Census Designated Place in New York. Summaries for small statistical units such as Census tracts and block groups will not be available until late Summer 2002 with the release of the full Summary File 3 product.
Revised Population & Housing Unit Counts
The county files available below include profiles for
each town within the county listed. Profiles for each
of New York's cities, villages, and Census Designated Places
(CDPs) are included in the place file rather than the county
files. The profiles also are available for the
following demographic divisions:
Please Note: Due to the way the PDF files
containing these Demographic Profiles were created the
geographic areas within a file are not in alphabetic order.
However, they contain all of the profiles indicated here.
Also, all four profiles for a geographic area are in the
correct order. For example, the Albany County file contains
(in order): Albany County DP1, DP2, DP3, DP4; Berne Town
DP1, DP2, DP3, DP4; Rensselaerville Town; New Scotland Town;
Guilderland Town; Green Island Town; Colonie Town; Coeymans
Town; Bethlehem Town; and Westerlo Town.
